Peaceful Hooligan - Here is where the Football Terraces & the Rave Scene amalgamate.
It is the strange dichotomy of fighting at the football, yet later on, being loved up in a nightclub, thanks to the notorious introduction of the Ecstacy tablet, up and down the country.
E's inevitably and eventually put a hold on the rucking, in and out of affiliated football grounds, with bitter rivals all congregating under one roof, harmoniously raving together in the clubs.
Martyn Sole (Director), who was initially the discerning brains behind the blueprint for Infinities' flagship store (which had its 25 year anniversary in 2016 but sadly closed down); even forging ties with the cult Stoke based magazine Duck, went on to design his own label, within Stoke-on-Trent, in the shape of Peaceful Hooligan, in 2003.
Infinities first opened its cultural and heritage based doors in 1991, for distinguished smart/casual men and women alike, selling premium/iconic labels, with real history/character behind them, as well as up and coming unique/stylish brands to catch the eye of rogues and roguettes, alike.
Peaceful Hooligan being one of them.
The riotous brand and its cool concept/logo; a Dove carrying a piece of barbed wire in its mouth, was savvy and retrospective of all the aforementioned and was an absolute trailblazer, within the Infinities environment and still is, to this day.
The naughty label has a tailored philosophy of mixing and creating the inspiring nostalgia, that brings back the types of smiles and the laughter of everything they represent, when it comes down to the melting pot of music, football and fashion, that they constantly crave.
The practical, comfortable, robust and sharp quality, of each individually designed garment, is representative of the old school attitude of being built to last, whether you're fooling around in your local pub, representing your chosen club colours at each and every stadium, right down to misbehaving at a rave.
This is why it has become such a favourably cult classic brand, within the Football Casual firmament.
The sartorially smart attention to multifunctional detail is extremely apparent, right down to the sports snap and tab, setting high standards, with limited pieces to boot (Peaceful Production, included).
With the aforementioned Martyn and Tom Darbyshire (Director)/Helen Heath (Secretary) in the mix, it is quality labels like this, that are the innovative catalyst for other designers to create something new for lovers of Subcultures, too.
You only have to look at the discerning ilk of Weekend Offender (that followed, in 2004; to be featured in Part 12), to see how influential a unique impact can be.
Survive and evolve, yet stay humble and rumble true, to your roots -
